Professional Experience

Assistant Conservator (Weilhammer & Schoeller Art Conservation LLP, August 2016 – May 2018)

  • Worked with internationally recognized conservators on the relocation of the Battle of Atlanta Cyclorama as well as all structural preparations for the future conservation/restoration of the piece including consolidation, strip lining, filling, inlays, facings, and adhesive removal. Performed surface cleaning and varnish removal with solvents, as well as inpainting.

Art Conservation Technician (Page Conservation, October 2015 – August 2016)

  • Worked with a team of conservators on the restoration of the 56 murals in the Minnesota State Capitol Building, St. Paul, MN. Performed all hands-on duties of an Art Conservator under the supervision of a senior Conservator including inpainting, cleaning, and various structural repairs.

Art Conservation Technician (Page Conservation, July 2015 – October 2015)

  • Studio Work -- Assistant to all conservators as needed. Performed the duties of an art conservator under the supervision of senior conservators. Responsible for designing and constructing all structures, enclosures, and apparatuses needed to complete projects as well as mechanical removal of adhesive from the backs of five murals from the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History.

  • Off Site -- Mount Pleasant Public Library, Washington, DC. This project included: plaster wall repair, remounting, cleaning (aqueous and solvent), varnishing (brush), filling, and hundreds of hours of inpainting (MSA).

Craftsman/Designer (Self-employed, 2013 -2015)

  • Designed and built various home renovation projects including bathrooms, bars, pergolas, and decks

Education

New Methods for Cleaning Wall Paintings (International Academic Projects, Università degli studi Orsola, Naples April 2017) 

  • Intensive course taught by Professor Richard Wolbers, a leading authority on painting conservation, that focused on his latest gels and conductivity cleaning techniques both in theory and in practice.

Masters with Commendations in Preventive Conservation (Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK (Distance Learning)– November 2018)

  • Specialization in Preventive Conservation

  • Lecture course in preventive conservation, conservation methods, conservation science, and the history, technology, and preventive conservation of all type of art.

  • Dissertation “The Preventive Conservation of Cycloramas; Loose Lining”
